video content ideas for creators feeling stuck or uninspired

5 Video Content Ideas for Creators Who Feel Stuck (That Always Work)

You’ve carved out time to film. Your camera is ready. Your iced coffee is perfect.
…but your brain is blank.

This is one of the biggest hurdles I see facing content creators. Even big brands. The pressure to create something “worth posting” stops so many people from hitting record.

The good news? There’s a simple system for that.

Whether you’re creating short-form clips, YouTube tutorials, Instagram reels, or even live content, these five video content ideas for content creators will help you show up consistently even when you’re out of ideas.

5 Video Content Ideas for Creators Who Feel Stuck (That Always Work)

It doesn’t matter if your videos are long-form, short-form, promotional, TikTok or Live. Knowing what people really want is actually kind of easy when you realize they’re telling you all the time.

1. Teach Something Simple (Tutorial Video)

If someone has ever asked you a question in your DMs, comments, or on a call — you already have a video idea.

I used to work in Apple Retail, and it blew me away how often customers asked the simplest things:

  • How to turn it on?
  • How to save a file?
  • What made it different from Windows?
  • Why it cost so much?

To me, it was obvious. But to them? I was the expert.

Challenge: Can you plan 60 seconds (or less) explaining something your audience doesn’t know, but you do?

2. Share Behind the Scenes (BTS or Process Video)

Petrula Vrontikis, a renowned Graphic Designer and professor at ArtCenter, once said, “your work doesn’t speak for itself.” We hope our portfolio or product does the talking. But people don’t know the full story unless you share it.

In 60 seconds or less (or a few minutes if you’re on YouTube), show behind the scenes:

  • Your desk or filming setup
  • What your day really looks like
  • How you make your product
  • Why you do what you do?

People love seeing the process, not just the polish.

Challenge : Can you write a 60 second script or 3-5 minute video that peels back the curtain on your process or work?

3. Answer a Common Question (Q&A or FAQ Video)

Similar to tutorials, but go deeper.

If a client asked something on a call, or you keep getting the same question in comments, others probably want to know too.

Gary Vee puts it perfectly: “Document, don’t create.”

Too many creators try to impress. But often, the content that connects is simple and honest. Talking about your process, your experience, or how you think about something is a game changer.

Challenge : Write out 5–10 FAQs you’ve answered before. Each one could be its own video

4. Celebrate a Client Win or Highlight a Viewer

This one’s tough when imposter syndrome hits. But think back:
How did your work make someone’s day better?

Maybe:
• You’re a luxury brand and a spa day made someone cry with relief.
• Your YouTube video inspired someone to finally book that trip.
• Your course helped a student land a client.

Tell that story. Don’t overthink it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be real.

Challenge : When you tell people what you do, what are the stories you like to tell? What makes what you do important to you?

5.Make a Personal Recommendation (Tool, App, or Product)

Not every video needs to sell.

Instead, share something you genuinely use and that helps your audience too.

Are you:
• A not-for-profit onboarding new clients? Share the tool that simplifies your workflow.
• A YouTuber who swears by your best mic? Talk about it.
• A freelance editor who found a better way to back up files? Pass it on.

Your viewers trust you. They’ll appreciate your honest recommendations even if they don’t buy anything right away.

The Infinite Content Generator

Don’t stop at one video. Build a content ladder:

  • A short-form version with a hook
  • A long-form story or tutorial
  • A blog version
  • Carousel or quote graphic

One idea becomes 5–10 assets. And along the way, you’ll likely come up with even more ideas to repurpose later.

And people aren’t going to touch all your content points. They don’t care if you posted it short, long, blog and photo-style. They interact with you one way or another, and will disregard if it doesn’t match them. Or, it might be exactly how they wanted it delivered to them.

How We Use It With Clients

For all of our retainer clients, we use these five formats constantly in strategy sessions.

When a brand or creator feels stuck, the first thing we do is simplify. We help them build out an easy, repeatable system for visibility. And it’s one that actually fits their schedule and brand.

Because here’s the truth:
Modern viewers skip ads. They Swipe past promo posts. They always ignore spammy emails.

So stop trying to “sell.”
Give something valuable.
They’ll stick around and come back for more.

Your Turn to Try It

Next time you’re feeling stuck, don’t doomscroll.

Pick one of these five formats and go with it.

Remember: Done is better than perfect. Progress is better than perfection.

  • Which one feels easiest for you?
  • Which are you going to try?
  • What worked?
